For the Kids in 2017
It is the mission of the University of Kentucky 24 Hour Dance Marathon, DanceBlue, to create a multi-faceted organization that operates through the support and leadership of the UK students, faculty, staff, administrators, and the Lexington community. The organization enhances the lives of children and families fighting childhood cancer through the Golden Matrix Fund, and therefore serves the Bluegrass by assisting those treated at the DanceBlue Clinic. Furthermore, DanceBlue strives to establish a continued tradition, invoke appreciation and involvement, and ultimately create something greater than oneself.
After the inspiration of Jarrett Mynear and his drive to make the cancer experience as painless as possible, the idea was born to get students at the University of Kentucky involved. Since 2006, DanceBlue has raised over $11.6 million For The Kids, and we’re not stopping there!

All of the money that is raised through DanceBlue is donated to the Golden Matrix Fund, which then works to support the kids of the DanceBlue Kentucky Children’s Hospital Hematology/Oncology Clinic, as well as research done at the Markey Cancer Center. Childhood cancer not only affects the child physically, but it also creates many emotional and financial difficulties for the entire family. The goal of the Golden Matrix Fund is to provide care and support for the kids through giving them and their parent’s comfort.
