My name is Lakin Puckett, and I am the Operations Chair for DanceBlue 2024!
DanceBlue has been a part of my life for 3 years now, and I know this will last far beyond my years in college. It is not just an organization but a community of people that hold a special place in my heart. It provides beads of courage for every treatment a child goes through, gas and meal cards for the families, hotel stays, specialists that aid in providing the child with the best possible experience, and so much more. I am so lucky to have the opportunity to serve such an incredible organization. From serving on the Operations Committee, being the Volunteer Coordinator, to now ending my college career on the chair team, I will forever support this cause and these people.
This year, I have the amazing opportunity to serve as the Operations Chair. Currently, my committee is working to make the upcoming 5K a success for the kids. The 2023 ‘Color Me Blue’ 5K Run/Walk registration is open and will continue to stay open until this Friday, October 6th! This year’s 5K will start at the new Alumni Commons area on campus. We have also introduced a new route that goes right by the DanceBlue Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Clinic, so our participants can see their impact on the clinic staff, kiddos, and families. It will be held this Sunday, October 8th at 2pm.

You do not want to miss this event! It is the largest opportunity for dancers to earn spirit points. You receive 20 spirit points for registering, and 3 extra points for picking up your runner packet. Details regarding packet pick-up will be provided on the registration website. The DB5K run/walk welcomes everyone. Feel free to invite your friends, family, and any community member. We are offering a virtual option for those that cannot make it to Lexington on race day.
Be on the lookout for information regarding volunteering, meal hours, VIP/Personnel check-in, and a BRAND NEW VENUE for the 24-hour Dance Marathon in the spring!
